Destabilisation and plasticity of granular media
This line of research aims to better understand and model the phenomena of movement of granular media under the effect of a constraint (shear, pressure, vibration) and the possible link with the variation of compactness of the medium (dilatancy or decompaction) . This is particularly done in the context of granular avalanches that can be preceded by precursors that take place either at the free surface of the system or in its volume.

Studies in numerical simulations also reveal precursors of rupture of granular media under bi-axial compression. This axis gives rise to an important methodological development (experimental and numerical) on the propagation of acoustic waves within granular media whether they are located in the air or immersed in a liquid.
