Presentation of the department
The Department of Molecular Physics brings together theorists and experimentalists working on the structure and dynamics of atomic and molecular systems, and their interaction with light. The department is organised around 3 axes whose preoccupations are both fundamental as well as applications in domains such as astrophysics, atmospheric, environmental or industrial physics.
The Department develops and uses numerical codes based on the quantum formalism; it also relies on a series of experimental original approaches. It is strongly involved in the exploitation of large facilities (SOLEIL, ESRF,...).
Laboratory experiments performed in conditions as close as possible to those found in the interstellar medium and in circumstellar or planetary atmospheres.

Physics-chemistry of combustion, electric arcs, nanoparticle formation in a surrounding plasma, plasma chemistry, planetary atmospheres, atmospheric chemistry, and emission of pollutants from natural sources.
